Because we're up here in the Pennines, the weather is often cooler and breezier than down in the valleys - even on sunny days, so it's always a good idea to bring a few extra items of clothing- especially if you're going to be on or near the water...or the mud!
At Castleshaw we can provide specialist equipment for activities, including waterproofs and wellingtons. However, for those at the extreme ends of the size range (eg. reception classes), we may have limited stocks, so it is usually best to check in advance.
The tips below will go a long way to making your day more comfortable.... these are the things that our visitors most often wish they had brought! For a more complete equipment list for each activity, follow the links to the right.
5 top tips...
Wear old clothes, eg tracksuit bottoms, fleece top or sweatshirt, trainers, socks. (Try to avoid cotton T-shirts & Jeans as they can feel cold when wet)
Bring some spare socks, whatever the activity, and whatever the weather.
Have a warm coat, hat & gloves when it's cool, a sun hat and sun block when it's warmer.
Remember any medication if required eg. asthma inhalers or hay fever tablets.
On day trips remember to bring a packed lunch - it's a long way to the shops!
